Discover all the riches of the Aude department during your camping stay in Cathar Country. Between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea, the Canal du Midi and the Cathar Castles, not to mention its vineyards producing wines renowned worldwide, Aude will enchant you with its landscapes and numerous outdoor activities. At the Le Moulin de Sainte-Anne campsite near Carcassonne, you will be ideally located to set out to conquer the treasures of this extraordinary territory that has managed to reconcile man and nature.
Aude will impress you with its varied and wild landscapes. The trace of man is discreet, and when it is present, it manages to sublimate nature, for example, with the famous Cathar Castles or the many vineyards of the region. Think, by the way, to taste these quality wines, like Minervois, which are the pride of the country. During your camping stay in Aude, you will have plenty of opportunities to hike at your leisure with the Pyrenees and the Corbières as a backdrop. Quite pleasant, isn't it? Whether you are on foot or by bike, you will have a hard time not succumbing to the charm of Minervois and its rich biodiversity. Just 20 minutes from the campsite, you can visit incredible natural sites such as the Cabrespine chasm, whose glass walkway overlooking the chasm impresses visitors, or the splendid Limousis cave, to be done with family or friends. Aude is also the river of the same name and the Mediterranean Sea not far from the campsite for water activities or simply to enjoy a lazy day at the beach or by a lake. Why not go to Lake Jouarres, half an hour from the campsite? This peaceful place offers a wide range of activities that will delight young and old alike, such as water sports, boat rentals, fishing, or hiking around the lake. Take advantage of your camping holiday near the Canal du Midi to travel a stretch of this unique 240 km long route, which has many architectural and natural treasures.
Carcassonne is 12 km from the campsite! Immerse yourself in its history by visiting the medieval city and its ramparts. During an unforgettable walk, you will discover breathtaking panoramas and the sumptuous monuments in this must-see city of Cathar Country. A unique atmosphere awaits you in Carcassonne, as well as several cultural and festive events that take place during the summer: among them, the traditional Feria or the Carcassonne Festival, a musical event now recognized throughout France. Also, get to know the picturesque villages of Minervois. They are called Minerve, Caunes-Minervois, or Saissac (housing a pretty Cathar Castle). If you are looking for history and exceptional natural landscapes, the Château de Saissac is far from being the only Cathar vestige to discover during your camping holiday in Aude. Thus, the four Châteaux de Lastours are less than 20 minutes from the campsite, and they offer you a magnificent and immersive hike in Cathar Country. Your physical efforts will be largely rewarded by viewpoints as sumptuous as they are vertiginous on the Cathar remains and the surroundings marked by the Montagne Noire. A beautiful panorama is also accessible, without having to climb, by going to the Belvédère de Montfermier.
